Hyundai has introduced its HDC-6 NEPTUNE Concept Class 8 heavy-duty truck.
It has people saying that it could give Tesla's Semi truck a run for its money.

The first hydrogen-only concept for Hyundai
“Today at this show, by showing HDC-6 Neptune, the first hydrogen-only concept for Hyundai Motor Company’s commercial vehicles, we will start exploring opportunities in the United States commercial vehicle market,” said Edward Lee, Head of Hyundai Commercial Vehicle Business Division.
“Furthermore, we are willing to work with other partners to pave the way to establish a hydrogen ecosystem for CV.”
The Roman god of the seas
The concept truck is part of Hyundai's FCEV 2030 vision to accelerate the development of a hydrogen society by leveraging the group’s global leadership in fuel-cell technologies.
Its name even gives tribute to the Roman god of the seas because the sea represents the largest potential source of hydrogen fuel on Earth.
“We have cemented the fuel cell technology leadership position in the passenger vehicle sector with the world’s first commercially produced fuel cell EV and the second generation fuel cell EV, the NEXO,” commented Edward Lee, Head of Commercial Vehicle Business Division at Hyundai Motor Company.
"With the introduction of HDC-6 NEPTUNE, in addition to the road proven Xcient fuel cell truck, we expand our technology leadership into the commercial vehicle sector by unveiling our vision of how fuel cell electric trucks can resolve the environmental equations of widely used commercial vehicles and our commitment to create a decarbonized society.”
Hyundai also specified that the truck has a unique construction, fuel system, and advanced in-cab technology. Furthermore, its edgy retro design is inspired by the streamliner railway trainsets of the 1930s.
Unfortunately, that's all we know about this impressive looking truck for now. No details have been given about range, power, powertrain placement, for example. I guess we will just have to wait.
In the meantime, we can admire the truck's sleek design.
